You Heard It From Bridge
...According to a recent article in the Washington Post, the U.S. Postal Service has found another new revenue stream. The latest: companies can now pay to have their own branded postage stamps made up. Photos and company logos are allowed. The cost can be as little as ten cents per stamp more than usual. If Bridge had a writer for Leno or Letterman on staff, we would surely have some sardonic remarks about the cult of personality, but we'll leave those to our readers when they see the Bridge Global Strategies 39-cent stamp.
...Will paper editions of newspapers and magazines ever go away? No way, according to Matthew Schwartz, reporter for BtoB Magazine, when speaking at a gathering of Public Relations Society of America's national leadership this month. Why? "The three Bs: bathroom, bedroom and beach," he said.
...We have it first-hand from several journalists that the following are widely read among their media brethren each day:
- iwantmedia.com (you may want to take a look yourself, because oh, what a variety of media input you'll get in ten minutes)
- Poynter Online's columnist Romenesko ("Everything you need to be a better journalist," according to the blogger)
- Gawker.com (this is the New York City journalists' blog of choice for tasty tidbits of tantalizing gossip about other media folks, served up with a dash of arsenic – and supposedly accurate more often than not)
...PCWorld reported that Google is light years ahead of its search engine competitors, according to research done by market researcher Hitwise, which reported recently that almost 60% of all searches made in the U.S. in May were done on Google.
